Journaling Worshops

Journaling and Learning About a Growth Mindset

Who: Because Big Life Journals are only available in English, this workshop is limited to English-speaking participants. Additionally, to ensure that all attendees can make the most out of their workbook and our group time interested participants must be between the age of 8 and 16 by March 1, 2021.

What: This workshop will offer opportunities for participants to learn on their own and come together to connect and have fun while trying out powerful techniques for combating a “can’t do attitude. Registered attendees who sign up to participate in the workshop will receive an age appropriate Big Life journal to complete at their own pace and on their own time.

These journals help children, tween and teens learn to:

  • Discover the power of their mindset
  • Handle negative feelings and self-talk
  • Create and plan out goals
  • Overcome challenges and setbacks
  • Build resilience and gratitude

During weekly video conferences, participants will meet as a group with IFOPA Family Services Manager Hope Newport to explore one new, practical skill to continue understanding how our brains are designed to support us in overcoming life’s challenges. A few sample topics include:

  • being process rather than outcome focused
  • receiving feedback effectively
  • learning new things and
  • embracing struggles

When: Sundays from 10-11 am EDT/15:00 BST from June 13 to July 25

Where: All workshop sessions will be hosted on Zoom video conferencing.

Registration is limited: To create an environment where every attendee has an opportunity to participate in the conversation, this workshop is limited to 15 participants.

Deadline: The deadline to ensure your child receives a journal by the start of the workshop has passed. However, we are still encouraging interested participants to sign up and will make every effort to get them a journal as quickly as possible.
