IFOPA Connects with FOP Community Worldwide

Several FOP family meetings were held around the world this past year

The IFOPA participated in the meetings hosted in Canada, Argentina and Russia. As the organization works to develop an increasingly global perspective, attending more meetings and getting to know international FOP families and researchers will be a priority.

Michelle Davis, IFOPA Executive Director, attended the Latin America FOP Meeting. “It was an incredible opportunity to attend the family meeting organized by Moira Liljesthröm, President of FOP Fundación, IFOPA Research Committee member, and former IFOPA Board member. Meeting families you’ve communicated with on Facebook really brings your relationship with them full circle. It was thrilling to see so many researchers and clinicians from Buenos Aires and other parts of Latin America attend the symposium.”

Adam Sherman, Research Development and Partnerships Director, attended the Canadian FOP Conference & Family Medical Clinic—his first FOP family meeting since joining the IFOPA staff.

“It was nothing short of transformative and inspirational to connect with people living with FOP and to hear their stories,” Adam said. “I look forward to more of these meetings in the future and the chance to make connections with a broader group of
FOP families.”
