Congratulations to Eileen Shore, PhD for receiving the 2024 Lawrence G. Raisz Award from the American Society of Bone & Mineral Research (ASBMR)! This award will be presented during the ASBMR 2024 Annual Meeting in Toronto, Canada in September.
Dr. Shore is the Cali/Weldon Professor at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Genetics. She is the Co-Director of the Center for Research in FOP and Related Disorders and a member of Graduate Groups in Cell and Molecular Biology and in Bioengineering.
She received her PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania and postdoctoral training at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Throughout her career, her work has focused on explaining the causes and mechanisms of rare genetic disorders of heterotopic ossification in order to identify therapeutic strategies for these conditions. The Center for Research in FOP and Related Disorders where Dr. Shore is Co-Director with Dr. Fred Kaplan is the team that led the research and announced the discovery of the FOP gene in 2006.
