While the IFOPA seeks and secures charitable contributions to fund essential present-day priorities such as research, clinical trial support, and programs and services for families, donors can also help build a solid foundation for the future by making a planned gift commitment to the organization.
Planned giving is vital to the long-term success of any non-profit. Founded in 1988, the IFOPA is approaching its 40th year of existence. As the march toward an effective treatment and, one day, a cure continues, the need for financial resources extends well into the future.
Planned giving is the process by which a donor or potential donor creates an estate plan in which they formally decide to give assets of value to an organization at a future date. Most often, this asset transfer is made through a will and occurs at the time of the donor’s passing.
The IFOPA has a tool in place to receive planned gifts from donors. The Jeannie L. Peeper Heritage Roll of Honor was established several years ago to recognize and honor those individuals and families from the United States and across the globe who have included the organization it their estate plans. Named in honor of our Founder, qualifying gifts include a will or trust, retirement plan assets, life insurance, real estate, and tangible personal property. You become part of the Roll of Honor when you provide the IFOPA with written confirmation of your planned gift intent.
Legacy gifts are a treasure, a rare jewel that creates a sacred covenant between the donor and the organization. The decision to include a nonprofit organization like the IFOPA in one’s estate plans elevates the organization to the status of a family member.
The IFOPA will promote membership and provide gift planning information to donors through the FOP Connection and personal outreach. It is Jeannie Peeper’s vision and hope for a world without FOP. By joining this Society, you affirm this vision of hope for future generations of FOP members and families.
Have you already included the IFOPA in your estate plans, but haven’t let us know of your gift intentions? Please fill out this short form to let us know so we can update our records and thank you for your generosity.
If you would like to learn more about leaving a legacy gift, please email [email protected]. Mark Gambaiana, grandfather to Lincoln who lives with FOP, Jeannie L Peeper Heritage Roll of Honor member, and IFOPA volunteer, will reach out with more information.
