The IFOPA is pleased to present the 2017 FOP Family Gathering December 1-3 in San Francisco, California. These Gatherings provide FOP families the opportunity to:
- Learn about the latest FOP research
- Interact with the world’s leading FOP clinicians
- Connect with other patients, their families, and caregivers
It is a truly unique opportunity to connect, learn and grow. We hope you will join us!
The IFOPA holds these meetings in different locations around the United States (2016 Gathering was held in St. Louis, Missouri). We hope that by offering the Gathering in a variety of locations it reduces the long-distance travel burden on families, so more people will be able to attend. Our Fall 2018 meeting will be held in the Northeastern United States. While the Family Gatherings are open to any family in the FOP community, please know that all presentations and event materials are in English.
Family Gathering Program and Medical Clinics
The Family Gathering will begin with a Welcome Reception on the evening of Friday, December 1. The program will kick off at 8:30 am Saturday, December 2 and end by 3 pm on Sunday, December 3.
During the Gathering, there will be a limited number of medical clinic appointments with a team of FOP experts. You can note your interest in participating on the Family Gathering registration form.
Registration
Registration for the Family Gathering includes Friday's reception, two breakfasts, two lunches and dinner on Saturday evening, plus lots of opportunities to learn and make connections. Registration fees are as follows:
- Individual living with FOP - Complimentary
- First family member or attendant - $50
- Additional family members or attendants (5-15) - $50 each
- Additional family members or attendants (16+) - $100 each
Registration for the FOP Family Gathering will close on November 20.
Event Hotel
The Gathering will be held at the Palace Hotel. The IFOPA has secured a room block at the rate of $199 per night for single to quadruple occupancy and $40 for self-parking. These are incredible rates in San Francisco - one of our nation's top tourist destinations. The Palace Hotel is just a few blocks from San Francisco’s popular Union Square.
The Palace Hotel has both standard handicap accessible rooms and rooms with walk-in showers. You will note which type of room you require and any other sleeping room accommodations or dietary needs when you register.
The room block closed on November 9, but there are still a few rooms available. Please send an email to [email protected] and include your arrival and departure dates, number of occupants, if you require a standard ADA room or a room with a roll-in shower, and any other special sleeping room requests.

If you live in the area and will be driving in each day, you may still take advantage of the $40 daily parking rate (discounted from $60).
Getting to San Francisco
Should you need to fly, you have the option of using the Oakland International Airport or San Francisco International Airport.
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) provides convenient public transportation in San Francisco accessible from both airports; there is a BART stop at the Palace Hotel.
Travel Assistance
As we have deeply discounted registration, attendees are responsible for their own hotel and travel expense. There are a very limited number of travel and hotel stipends available for an FOP individual and one family member or attendant. If you would like to apply for a stipend, please send an email to [email protected] no later than October 20.
