Pursuit of a Cure 2022

In Pursuit of a Cure Enters Its 3rd Year with Exciting New FOP Research

Together with you and our FOP family, the IFOPA leads the way on FOP research. Your generosity has led to significant discoveries and expanded our work to find treatments and a cure for FOP.

Exciting New Paths

We’re especially excited about the 2022 In Pursuit of a Cure CampaignInvesting in Every Path to Hope. In addition to funding year 3 of gene therapy research, this year’s event will also fund clinical trial research support.

This is the first time the IFOPA will fund a clinical trial for FOP — STOPFOP, a trial testing saracatinib that’s being held in The Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom. Before the trial, when tests were still being done in mice, saracatinib appeared to stop FOP bone growth and prevent or lessen flares, one of the most painful and stressful symptoms of FOP.

Let’s Find Treatments and a Cure for FOP Together

Your generous support of the 2022 In Pursuit of a Cure Campaign advances:

Gene therapy research for the treatment of FOP
— DNA/RNA combination therapy which could one day be a cure for FOP
— New RNA interference therapy which could promote treatments for FOP sooner
Education and support for clinical trials, including STOPFOP, a clinical trial being held in The Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom
