A Dad Gives Back as a Monthly Donor

Jamal Porter wants to give his daughters, Saniya and Savannah, the brightest future possible. For Savannah, who has FOP, that means relying on a community for extra support – which their family found in the IFOPA. Porter became a monthly donor to give back in gratitude for all they receive.

“I was looking for a way to support the FOP community consistently and to me, this was a no-brainer,” recalled Porter.

“Being a part of the Focus on Possibilities monthly donor group is an honor, while also being the least I can do. I will continue to do my part and support the IFOPA because, at the end of the day, they support my family.”

Monthly donors are some of the first people to get announcements from the IFOPA, which Porter values because the information is vital for navigating life with FOP.

“The latest news and program updates are very important to me. I am also a fan of receiving clinical trial updates that may be beneficial to our family,” Porter said.

In addition, Porter appreciates that monthly giving is an easy, convenient way to donate. He loves knowing there’s an automatic gift that will help raise awareness, support families and fund crucial research.

“There may not be an opportunity for me to be a part of a special event or fundraiser on a monthly basis, but I still know that I can be making an impactful contribution for such a great cause,” stated Porter.

It’s simple to set up a monthly donation in any amount, which lets each person do what they can. Combined with gifts from other monthly donors, every contribution becomes a steady source of funding for research, family education and support, as well as advocacy and awareness programs. The Porters take to heart how Partners in Possibilities work together to grow support – mom, Christina, gives individually as a monthly donor as well!

“The impact the IFOPA has on those living with FOP and their families can’t be understated,” Porter said.

“Being a monthly donor to the IFOPA allows you to play a part in the organization continuing to deliver on its mission and vision to ultimately find a cure.”

The IFOPA is grateful for the incredible generosity of our monthly donors. And we’re excited that we welcomed the first 100 members to the Focus On Possibilities team by May. Let’s keep the momentum going and reach 125 in 2021! Sign up at ifopa.org/monthly_giving. For more information, contact Fundraising and Special Projects Manager Cathryn Roys at [email protected].
