ACT for FOP Grant Program Now in its 5th Year

Advance Research - Help Fund ACT for FOP Grants

The IFOPA's ACT (Accelerating Cures & Treatments) for FOP grant program is getting ready to provide its 5th year of grant funding and you can be part of advancing research! The ACT for FOP program provides research funds to investigators looking to advance new treatments for FOP. To date, the IFOPA has funded over $700,000 to 12 investigators from around the world. Each grant funded brings us that much closer to identifying new treatment possibilities for FOP.

The ACT for FOP grant program is made possible through generous donations and contributions from the FOP community. This year we anticipate we'll need $250,000 to make these grants a reality. If you would like to be part of funding these grants through a personal or corporate donation or by holding a fundraiser, contact Cathryn Roys, Community Fundraising Manager at [email protected] or + 1 843-709-3244

ACT for FOP Grants Make Research Possible!

This ACT for FOP grant allowed for the important collaboration between our laboratories (Levi and Mishina) that otherwise would not have been possible. Specifically, it enabled the synergy between groups with expertise in FOP and traumatic heterotopic ossification that allowed for validation of the first immune directed therapy (rapamycin) that formed the basis for the clinical trial in Japan. This work has also laid the ground work for understanding the importance of the transforming growth factor beta one kinase (TAK1) pathway in FOP.  We look forward to continuing to scaling up the progress made from this award to future discoveries to improve the lives of people living with FOP.
