Booster Seats –Britax Star Riser & Bodyguard
When Peter’s son, Daniel, outgrew his car seat and needed more support and protection than regular boosters provided because of his FOP, Peter researched what was available and found the Britax Star Riser booster seat. At the time, it was the only padded expandable booster that protected the head, neck and spine sufficiently. As of 2003, Britax now also makes the Bodyguard booster seat. Whereas the Star Riser accommodates children from 30 to 80 pounds, the Bodyguard safely seats children from 40 to 100 pounds, whose height is between 43 and 60 inches. They both have bases that expand in width and backrests that expand in height. The belt guides help correctly position the shoulder belt to fit your growing child and avoid painful FOP spots. The new Bodyguard booster, however, is the only carseat designed for enhanced side impact protection since it has a high tech wrap-around design like a modern racing seat. It is also the only booster in the world with built-in lock-offs on the base and a mating backrest-base configuration designed to connect the restraint to the vehicle belts and avoid inertia loading on the child. The Lock-offs prevent tipping over during cornering even on slippery seat cushions or seats with humps. For an extra measure of fun, headphones are built in to the headrest. Just add the tape, CD, or MP3 player and let your child sit back and enjoy the music!
