Catalog of FOP Resources
Bedroom Items
People with FOP may need special mattresses or beds to help them be comfortable. This can be as simple and inexpensive as adding an "egg crate" bed pad to an existing bed, or it may require a special bed (such as hospital, water, gel hybrid, T-foam or air). Using pillows and pads wisely can greatly increase comfort and prevent pressure sores. There are many alternatives available, such as Roho, sheepskin, egg crate, etc. In addition, there are accessories that may make resting easier as well, such as a bed pull-up strap, superpole, or bed table. Please see specific Beds, Bedpads, and Pads written up elsewhere in this database under Sleeping & Sitting and other related items in the Self Help & Home Adaptation categories.
